Lord Of The Rings - Andy Serkis - Hobbitathon - Charity Live Stream - Video, MP3, Flac, Audacity File
Originally broadcast on the 8th May 2020, actor Andy Serkis (Who plays "Gollum" / "Smeagol" in the Lord Of The Rings Trilogy (And Hobbit Trilogy) of Motion Pictures) broadcasted a over 10 and a half hour long stream reading the entire Hobbit Novel by J.R.R Tolkien, The reading was known as Hobbitathon and was a charity reading for "Best Beginnings" which raised over £280,000 for the charity.
Andy Serkis has since professionally recorded The Hobbit and the Lord Of The Rings trilogy in a studio environment and is available on CD and no doubt Digital Streaming somewhere, I myself do own the CD of the Hobbit and although his use of the Gollum voice is excellent! in my own opinion I still prefer the original edition of the audiobook read by Rob Inglis in 1990 and 1991 respectively (with no insult intended to Mr Serkis,)
In my personal opinion this stream is nothing special, The video and audio quality is poor, But because the original stream was deleted this is technically "Lost Media" and I'm a big fan of finding and saving "Lost Media" for example "Doctor Who" and "The Avengers" someone has uploaded a 2 hour clip of the stream on YouTube which has collected over 70 thousand views so clearly this piece of media is in some sort of demand.

Its been over 2 years since the original stream was broadcast and my main reason for sitting on this media was copyright and moral reasons, I could have easily uploaded the entire thing to YouTube by now but I worried for a copyright strike because I genuinely care about my channel and wasn't happy to take the risk at the time, I also felt it was wrong morally as it was recorded for a charity but its since been and gone and the Charity got a nice chunk of funding from the event
The Files I have included in this Archive are
1. The original video file in MP4 format recorded at 1080p 30fps with AAC audio at 500kbps, The original stream was broadcasted at 720p at 30fps but unfortunately i was too late to change by the time the broadcast had started I also didn't want to "downscale" the video in case any video quality was lost (Which is rich because the quality is already poor) Youtube also compresses audio to 128kbps so the 500kbps will be a waste of space but also its the quality point of view, If you're happy to download this and downscale it yourself for your personal use I'd never object even if I had the right to.
2. The original RAW Audacity Project File Zip, This has the project and all its components in tact, I did a loopback recording from my desktop audio and recorded it via Audacity, I'm honestly not completely sure about the quality statistics but if you're well versed on audio production you could perhaps increase clarity or reduce background sound should you like to.
3. Three MP3 files, One containing a MP3 version of the raw Audacity recording, One containing an MP3 version of the Audacity recording but the stereo has been mixed down from left and right to mono and then copied the combined channels to stereo, and One which is the right channel only and copied to stereo. In my opinion the best version for listening is the Right channel only copied to stereo the reason for this is Andy Serkis used an extremely poor microphone which wasn't working properly in the left channel so using stereo headphones would mean its quiet in the left ear resulting in an uncomfortable experience.
4. Three Flac Files, I initially attempted to use WAV a similar lossless file format but Audacity wasn't allowing me to create a file larger than 4GBs with it and as its roughly (10 hours and 40 minutes) long that was never going to happen, Like the MP3 files theres (Original Recording) (Mix Down Mono L+R) (Right Channel Only Stereo) Again would recommend the Right Channel Only for every day listening.
I have included MP3 and FLAC files for ease of use I understand not everyone is completely tech savvy, Although I'm sure there's many who are.
I am in deep hopes that this Archive flies under the radar of Warner Bros. and the Tolkien Estate, not because I want the rightful owners of the copyright to "miss out" but because I care deeply about preserving Analogue, Digital and any other formats. I plan on uploading similarly rare items to Archive dot org.
